Oootopia: An Artgebraic Tribute to Adventure Time Opening Night 1

Oootopia's opening was overly ecstatic with fans, artist and fun. Pieces drenched the walls of Nucleus from a large contingent of artists, some from the show, some from regions unknown.

You can check out all the pieces at Nucleus here

Truly the night was only at it's best because of the fans who dressed up and the artists who doodled all over them. Yes, crew from the show and some of the comic book artists came down to sign swords and backpacks and all things adventerous. Artists like Andy Ristaino, Rebecca Sugar, Ian Quarterly, Michelles Xin, David C Smith and Cole Sanchez were drawing on everyone and everything.

The art was a splendid mix of the strange thoughts some people get while watching the show. Of course I love the real crews works the most, but the felt stuff was the best. Who doesn't love a hanging Marceline?

Fans really showed their love by their singing, dancing and wanting of a trivia contest over just having a raffle for prizes.

The only things I ponder is why Pen didn't show, maybe he was just playing video games. What happened to the playable Adventure Time game? It's seems the game backed out or it wasn't finalized, well I guess see it in November.

Want to thank Ben from Nucleus for showing us in and have such great shows.

Here's some of my favorite pieces

                             Can you name them all?
I like the last one, because it got knocked down by a Prince Bubblegum cosplayer.

Some More News for AT @ Nucleus

Hey! Keep your eyes out for some Marceline drained red crayons from the Candy Kingdom if your attending Oootopia: An Artgebraic Tribute to Adventure Time @ Nucleus Aug 18. I'll put them covertly around the place, just a mathematical memento to keep from the night. I'll also been posting some other notes from AT around the area, try and spot them.

Update* event info

So if you dress up for the event (cosplay), admission is free. On top of that, costume contest at 9:30pm. If you do pay, you're get a raffle ticket for the hourly raffle. Strangely, the playing of the 3DS game is now off the event page, so status unknown.

C'mon Grab Your Friends by Perry Dixon seems to be the special print release. You can get it now.

Here's some more work that's gonna be at the show, including Rebecca Sugar's stuff.

Good news, everyone! The show will be downstairs this time, so plenty of space to move about in.

The two piece below are from Chogrin and Natzilla, both crew on the show. Can't wait to see what I didn't see online.

OhNo!Doom Favs

OhNo!Doom Gallery's has a fine selection of pieces for it's Adventure Time Tribute show, here's my favs. You can check the rest here.

Oootopia: An Artgebraic Tribute to Adventure Time Details

So the name that was chosen for the art show was Oootopia: An Artgebraic Tribute to Adventure Time, but that's only one of the reveals, there are many below.

Oootopia: An Artgebraic Tribute to Adventure Time
August 18, 2012 - September 9, 2012
Aug 18, 7:00PM - 11:00PM

OPENING NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS ($5 Admission)• Meet Exhibiting Artists in Person
• Kaboom Adventure Time Comic Signing
• Play the New Adventure Time Video Game on 3DS
• Costume Contest
• Hourly Raffle Prizes
• Complimentary Refreshments

Nucleus will also be stocked with plenty of AT merchandise, so maybe hold off buying it online. There will also be an exclusive print for the show, but no preview or artist has been named yet.
Oh No Doom's Adventure Time Tribute... wait have to say I hate the name of this tribute show, it's too cluttered. I love there was a contest with prizes for fans to name the show, but the name sucks. When I told a small friend about the name she said it was like taking a big bite of cabbage. I told her that wasn't a common phrase and I didn't understand. She then said "Y'know when you take a big bite of cabbage and it's awful "and I was like "No", then I laughed. $5 admission too!?? If your wearing a costume it should be free.

Back to Adventure Time: A Tribute Show by OhNo!Doom, which is a much easier name. I have to say looking at the two shows and comparing the OND show seems to have cooler pieces. I like a lot of the felt you can touch and enjoy. The previews I've been seeing online of others work is all been relatively okay, not holy cow! The difference is going to be the opening which has the Adventure Time game playable, cosplay contest, raffles, and the meeting of artists. Reminder there is no official word on Pen Ward attending or some of the other crew. I hope they show, they can't live that far away if they work in Burbank.

Name The Adventure Time Tribute Show and Make T-Shirts

First up the Adventure Time Tribute art show at Nucleus have a naming contest for the show that ends at 4pm today!

Here's the rules""NAME THE SHOW" CONTEST RULES: You may offer more than one idea, but please offer only your best. If the chosen idea has been repeated by more than one contestant, the prizes will be awarded to the first contestant to suggest it. We will choose the best idea on Aug 7th at 4pm (PST). Nucleus has the right to decide not to use any of the suggested ideas, if we deem them not very good. However, we expect to be fully blown away by your brilliance :) Shipping charges may apply.  "

The name might be from the long list of 75 comments so far on the Nucleus Facebook page.  So some of the possible names for the show are:

Enter the Artosphere
HEEEEEEEEY GURL!
The Ancient Psychic Tandem War Elephant (and Friends) Show

I've intermixed some of the found pieces online.

My worst fear is that the Hansel and Gretel by Junko Mizuno Art Show happening the same time and place will be taking up the bottom floor and AT will be banished upstairs again, causing massive traffic jams. Last time a tribute for Edward Scissorhands took downstairs.

*Reminder, you still have time to come up with cosplay for the show.

*Food in the immediate area sucks, there's a great burger place a few miles away, but man the food there stinks.

Some of the artist names are up, here's the list

EXHIBITING ARTISTS INCLUDE

Red works on Adventure Time
Orange works on comic of Adventure Time
Fuchsia like their work

Graham Annable
plus more to be announced...

Here's the current contest from Mighty Fine for some brand new t-shirts!
Amazingly enough Pen Ward, his Mom and Natasha Allegri's cat Pancake will be judging. Also my theory of Pen Ward having only one picture online used for articles about him is in effect with the same picture of him in the about out judges section. I'll try to grab some sexy shots of him at the art show.
Submissions must be received by 11:59:59 PM (PST) on August 28th, 2012.

So Like There Are Two Adventure Time Art Shows Happening

Big news! Two Adventure Time Art Shows in August. The first is happening in Chicago with a bunch of artist. The second is happening at Nucleus, where the first public art show was, because technically the first art show happened at Cartoon Network with the Autumn Society, before the show aired. So with Mondo's art show and the one at Comic-con, these would be the 5th and 6th known art shows. Why no Japanese art shows?

The one at Nucleus will have crew and also comic book people, so that'll be fun.

Anyway here's links to both stories on the other site and more info will be coming with more pics and obviously I'm going to the one here, so look forward to coverage and some interviews and me possibly giving banana sauce to Pen Ward.

New Interview with Pen Ward Confirms One Picture of Him Exists Online

Great interview over at albotas with Pen Ward, going over the show and explaining too much of the interviewers life. It goes over the shows creation and how an episode gets made and then where the interviewer works, because a blog don't pay enough and his relationship with a girl who has three kids.
